Truly an INCREDIBLE week!

This week was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

First off our two friends, Adolfo and Eduardo, they are brothers.
Adolfo is progressing very well although Eduardo, struggles with a lot of nasty habits, but he loves the book of mormon and they both are learning great new fun shtuff! They both also came to church which was very exciting, eduardo is super funny, he is learning english and he loves to go "Yessirrr"  in a high pitched voice.

When the sacrement stsrted to be passed he goes, "OH thats NIIIIICE!" In the same highpitched voice, it was quite silly,

That sunday was especially great, in Sacrement meeting, our stake president and his councler both gave talks in their broken Spanish, they did a great job!
And gave great messages about following promptings of the holy ghost.

Elders quorum was also incredible, we had an awesome discussion about following those impresions from the holy ghost, that also got me super stoked about missionary work!

The best part of this whole thing, is I understood almost ALL of it

A huge blessing and gift from heavenly father,
Also my English is getting very bad,
Hahah,

I got to drive! That was fun! first time in 5 months. Just to and from church, Mommy I plead the fifth on how fast I went hehe (probably why president put me in a biking area ) but either way I rarley use my hands when I ride the bike soooo whos to say....

I participated in an Exchange with Elder Amaya, he is from Venizuela! "Viva Chavez!" I said  "no we dont like dat guy"he said when I joked about him haha.

That day was way fun because i spoke ONLY spanish the whole day, mainly because Elder Amaya bearley knows english

Im getting really good at teaching and answering questions, i still have a LOT to go but im so stoked about my progress!

Weve been cracking down on those INACTIVE MEMBERS, We have a lot in our area! And this past week weve had alot of them return to church!!! So amazing!!!.

One member we found, Henry, he just moved here from nicaragua with his sweetheart Franceli, (she is not a  member) they both came to church and he had his arm around her and he was showing her how the hymns work n shtufff
It was totally rad! They are SOO cute togethrr :)) So we are teaching them and she seems SUPER interested!!

At zone council we played a litle get to know you thing, where you say what disney character your companion reminds you of, i said Elder garrett reminds me of mr Incredible, and he says im like, little timmy from The Incredibles....THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!

Ive been in the Area for 4 months or so now and I am seeing the affect and change the gospel has on people, we are now seeing amazing success and Im super stoked about it!

I love being a missionary! I feel so much joy serving the Lord!!! Idk how to describe it i just feel so Great!!!

So rad so rad!

Flameo Hotman

See ya later!

I SEE HIM!

OK i love you all so much!!!

Mucha Lluvia amados hermanos mios

FIRST OFF HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! 2023

AND HAPPY HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!

So just take it a day at a time!
      -Scott Sandberg

These wise words are so true and have helped me through the tough times.

This week we saw ALOT of Rain and Mighty Miracles!
Like pouring rain, which is quite fun to bike in the rain, and be soaked and the end of the day.

We have a friend, her name is Sheila!
She has come to church for the past 4-5 weeks ish and she will be baptised jan 15!!!. A few weeks ago or so, in second our of church we had a class on tithing, and she wanted to pay her tithing, but we said

"oh you dont need to pay your tithing until your a member" she said "well how do I be a member" we said "well you need to be baptised,so she replied "when can I be baptised?
so we are teaching and preparing her for baptism,

She is super funny! And remembers a lot!

We met another awesome family, the fathers name is Diego, he kept resqueduling us for genuine reasons but we finally got a lesson with him last friday!

This was probably the best lesson ive had on the mission so far, we taught the the message of the restoration of the church of jesuschrist, which includes, our loving heavanly, Families, profets, dispensations, and apostosies; josesmith, the book of mormon, and finally how the holy ghost works/revelation, etc, very intense lesson!

After we explained the book of mormon, we shared moroni 10 3-6, he read it and I was following along in my own copy, half way through he choked up and couldnt speak, I looked up and his eyes were watering, i felt it, my companion felt it, and I Know Diego felt it,

im very excited for Diego! He loves talking with us and every time we visit, he is just GENUINLY interested and i can feel his soul reaching for us! He is the Elect.

The holy ghost works in very different ways, and effects people very differently.

Story time

Our friend Mitzy, we have been teaching her English as a service, and shes making decent strides!
Our last lesson, afterwards, she accepted a spiritual message and we taught the restoration to her!

Although, every 2 minutes or so she would just burst out laughing!!! (Not in a mocking way) but Man! It was hilarous,
Elder Garrett thinks we "broke her" i believe she has never felt the spirit or anything similar too it so when that feeling came, it made her Laugh!

So fascinating to me!
For me i feel the most amazing peace, and a soft grin comes in slowly, and I always get the chills and a feeling like im floatings!

This whole week it has been raining pretty much everyday,

But on dec 31 saturday, we rode to my best buddie's house: hermana morale's house for dinner, she cooks some dang good food!!!
We arrived around 6ish planned to leave around 7:30 but thats when the cats and dogs came flooding in!!

So

We chilled in her living room blasting music and having a party!
She played zeppelin, Metalica, Blink 182, and allllll sorts of music for us, it was a good time,

After this it was still pouring rain, so she turned on her favorite spanish soap opera: Vencer La Ausencia. Very dramatic, and ridiculously cheesy,
The time is now 8:45, 5 miles from the house, (still pouring) so we just sent it!

Soaking rain! Bikes, luckily ive got an awesome rain jacket but the shoes and pants got some soaking! It was super fun!

The spanish is coming along great! I can speak, listen, and understand! But i am also humbled every single day!

But thats how you learn.

The work to gather israel here in California is tough!
lots of stiff necks and hard hearts! But Loui gray, my companion, all the missionaries here and I are standing strong and pressing forward!

My testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon are firm and grow more and more each and every day! I love you all thanks for reading it means a lot :)

Heres some pictures
and scriptures I would love for yall to ponder on

Flabble gabble dabblee dittle loo hoo peace out

Oh yeah cut the hair

Ive been doing an intensive study of the atonement of Jesus Christ, the most magnifecent, unfathomable, and incredible Event in the history of the universe!!!!

It means something truly special and unique to me, every one understands it different so I invite you all do find out what it means for you!

I love being a missionary!

 Howdy howdy

Merry bussin Christmas!

Our apartment used to have 4 elders in here.
Of those other two elders one moved to another place and one finished his mission. So Elder Garrett and I have our own seperate bathrooms AND showers it is rightously awesome!

This week we have met and found a lot of people to talk too! That is really thanks to the bikes, so many people notice you and wave, and Im always waving and saying hi to literally everyone!

This week we had the great oppurtunity to give blood
After that we came home and I passed out! For about an hour.

Weve been doing a lot of service with sister morales she is so fun and goofy
We put up christmas lights for her, painting sheds, and building stuff for her.
She feeds us some dang good food too!
We are like best friends, shes already making plans for me to come back and hang out with her after the mission!

She wants a Purgola in her back yard but they are super expensive, I told her my buddy(cade Jacob/grey bear construction) and I can build her one after the mission (shes calling it our "plan de salvaciΓ³n)
She is very excited for that

Yesternight, we were in this little trailer park in which we have found several people in the past, but last night we saw a little house blasting music and we could see two people in there, so why not knok??? They are there! talk to them!

So we met two new friends who are brothers Rafael and adrian they are super cool, nice and really funny!

They let us in right then and there after which we then shared our message of the restored church of jesus christ in the latter days! They loved it
We got a return appointment and gave them Books of the mormon!
We shall seeee what happens next!

Elder Garrett and I clean almost everyday so the apartment feels good and healthy. Before, with 4 elders and only two of them cleaning and putting stuff away it gets a little too messy so im enjoying it right now!

This week we met a biker gang, they all had matching leather jackets with a blue flaming skull on the back!

The "founder" his name was Bishop he was way cool and super nice, he was riding a suzuki 600, his buddy had a honda CBR 600 rr and the third one had a husquvarna 450 supermoto!
We met them at a gas station and I walked over to them not meaning to talk gospel at all, I just wanted to talk about their sweet bikes.
I started talking bikes with them and Bishop said: Elders!!! Let me buy you stuff!!! Took us into the store and bought us tons of stuff

he kept saying: thats all your gonna get???

I was just: uhhh yeah hahaha
Then i grabbed more stuff, and he said: more dude more!

So we got lots of snacks that day
Which was nice after biking all the days.

Bishop grew up a member but isnt interested in getting back into the church, but he loves to help the missionaries,
So we sent his number off to the elders in san fernando where he lives so maybe one day :)

Elder Garrett really likes these things called Funko Pops, they are pretty cool! he has about 100 back home and hes collected 25ish on the mission,
He has sucked me into the addiction
I only bought two so far!

Anyways thanks for the love and support I love you all
Have a nice week!

One more!

 One member in this ward

Her name is sister morales
She is sooo funny and fun!
she is GoOfY tooo!
Just like me!

I try to be goofy and make people laugh best I can because if you cant laugh at the hard things in life it gets ROUGH!.

This week honestly was super duper hard, so many sucky things happened But at the same time it was great fun! Every time something sucky happens we just laugh at it! For example the bike falling to pieces but we have a sweet new bike so its all good!

That helps soo much!

Hermana morales is constantly telling silly stories amd laughing!
Every 4 -5 words she cracks a little giggle its adorable and hilarious!
She speaks super quick spanish
And sometimes its hard to understand her but she just makes me laugh and helps me stay goofy!

In sacrement meeting she makes eye contact with me from alll the wayyy across the chapel and smiles and giggles shes fantastic!

The holy ghost is truly our companion who wants us to be strong and be full of joy!
I know on p days sometimes I get real homesick and exhuasted and feel down amd dont want to do anything
But wants you show that effort of getting up and just starting! Heavanly father, through the holy ghost will help us!

We hopped on our bikes rode all through our area visited friends and members and I have so much energy and im feeling the spirit very nicely and i feel much joy :))
I love you all very much!

Missions are so dang funn!!

Hey everyone!

This past week has been hard!

Its always Hard!
But its just fun!

Our friend Rodolfo is progressing so much! We are building a strong relationship as friends, he is 60-70ish yrs old and he is so funny!

Yesterday We came over to his house and asked how his book of mormon reading went,
He said I read ALL of Alma 43, which has 54 verses! (It was the chapter about captitan moroni, but still)

In a past lesson with rodolfo we were discussing this great plan of salvation that heavanly father has for us!
We were Reading in Alma 40 and he read vs 23:

The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame.

Rodolfo is older and balding, hes got a lot of mileage on his body, when he read that verse the spirit came so strong and he bacame so happy! It was such a tender moment!

He told us, "Entonces,,,, cuando la resurrecion pasa, puedo tener un cuerpo PERFECTO y Fuerte con pelo hermoso y RUBIO???

He was saying: when the resurrection happens I can have a perfect and strong body, with beautiful long blonde hair hahaha
It was so great!

Everytime we have a lesson him he learns so much and he is always so excited to read in the Book Of Mormon and have a little lesson!

The language is coming so well! But the better my spanish gets the worse my english gets

Im so grateful for the gift of tongues and heavenly fathers help, because I could not do it with out him, nor with out the much support from family and friends!

The bike is fun! compton is still a crazy place,
Feel free to email back ive got LOTS of crazy stories if you want specifics!
